Gabion mattress is also known as Reno mattress or Mac mattress. It is similar to a gabion box but with a lower height at 0.3 m maximumly.
At SKYHALL® Fence, the gabion mattress is hexagonally woven by low carbon steel wire. And the surface of the Reno mattress is further galvanized.
They are usually filled with rocks to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures. They will be applied to promote the rapid growth of natural vegetation for further use in the mountain or riverbank stabilization.

Gabion mattress is environmentally friendly. The blending of the mattress structure will protect the environment positively by way of promoting vegetation growth in the mattress. It helps to preserve and maintain the ecological balance of the surrounding environment.
Permeability
The permeable structure of gabion mattress allows the water to seep through while retaining the soil to the filled stones, therefore no additional drainage is required to relieve the hydrostatic pressures.
Flexibility
The woven mesh system is capable of withstanding unexpected and localized stresses due to ground settlements and scour by deflection while maintaining its structural integrity.
Easy to Build
It’s quite easy to build the gabion mattress even you don’t have skilled labor. Just fill the mattress with stones and place it where you need. Baskets can be prefilled and launched to enable the installation under water.
Available Colors
All colors are available here for the Reno mattress, however, we recommend Silver, Dark Green of RAL6005, and Dusty Grey of RAL7037 as the reference colors since they are well accepted by most of our customers.
Yes, our mattress is produced from low carbon steel wires and its surface is pre hot dipped galvanized and then PVC coated. All the treatments will promise a durable mattress for long time use.
Manufactured with similar structure and the same materials, there’s no nature difference between them. However, the gabion mattress has much lower height than the gabion box. The height of gabion box is commonly 0.5 to 1 m while the gabion mattress has a maximum 0.3 m height.
