Double wire fence panel is a kind of cost-effective and popular perimeter fencing system. It’s always used in a wide range of places to provide better protection for property. Common areas you may see the double wire panel fence include schools, parks, playgrounds, warehouses, etc. And different colors of twin wire mesh fencing integrate well with the surroundings, creating aesthetic value in addition to basic protection. Double wire fence is keened by many people mostly for their sturdier structure. So why is double wire fence panel stronger?
Double wire fencing features two 6 mm horizontal wires that sandwich single 5 mm vertical wires, creating a sturdy and vandal-resistant perimeter system. Many double wire fence suppliers can provide fence panels with two 8 mm horizontal wires and single 6 mm vertical wires in case clients look for metal fences with a higher security level. The diameters of horizontal and vertical wires also gift the twin wire mesh fence direct and explicit names, 656 fences, and 868 fences.
Double wire fence panels can be divided into different types according to their mesh sizes, the presenting mode of horizontal wires, and the top patterns of the fence panels. Let’s walk them through one by one.
The mesh size of standard double wire fencing is 200* 50 mm, which you may see in the specification table below. The mesh size for the 358 security double wire fence is 76.2 * 12.7 mm, with wire diameters of 4/6/4 mm. The dense mesh size and compact fence structure makes double wire fence stronger than normal metal fences.

The number of horizontal wires distinguished two types of double wire fence. Type 1 has two horizontal wires on each horizontal line, while Type 2 has two horizontal wires on every three horizontal lines. Of course, type 1’s construction is stronger and more stable than type 2, but type 2 will save you money in the long run. No matter how the twin wires are placed, an extra horizontal wire provides additional “backup” and makes fence panels serve longer.
You can obtain flat-topped or arch-topped double wire fencing depending on the top type. The most frequent and cost-effective type of metal fence is the flat-topped twin wire fence, while the arch-topped type is more attractive and ideal for private gardens and public parks. The fence top patterns matter little to the fence panels’ strength. If you choose double wire fence panels with more attractive fence top designs, congratulations, you just made the choice with an extra bonus.
The fence panels are typically made from high quality low carbon steel wires. To extend the life of the fence panels, three surface treatments are available: heavy duty hot dipped galvanized, pre hot dipped galvanized + polyester powder coated, and pre hot dipped galvanized + pvc coated.
The hot dipped galvanizing technique forms a protective layer on the panel surface, preventing oxidation corrosion in the natural environment. Furthermore, the additional powder or pvc coating enhances its corrosion resistance while painting the panels with varied colors to better blend in with the surroundings.
Double wire fence panels benefit from the protective zinc layer and electrostatically applied polyster powder coating, ensuring a service life of at least 15-20 years.
The property, whether for business or domestic usage, requires protection and upkeep. When looking for metal fences to secure your property, a trustworthy double wire fence supplier should be the first element to consider, since a trustworthy supplier may save you a lot of money and time.
