Hexagonal wire mesh, also known as hexagonal wire netting or hexagonal chicken wire mesh, is a type of woven wire mesh characterized by its hexagonal openings. It’s commonly made from galvanized steel, stainless steel, or PVC-coated wires for corrosion resistance and durability.
The hex wire netting is very versatile. It’s used for poultry and animal enclosures such as rabbit fencing and chicken wire netting, as well as garden fencing and DIY crafts and decorative projects.
At Skyhall, we supply a wide range of hex wire netting in different wire gauges, opening sizes, and surface treatments to meet the practical needs of various projects.

Some references for general uses:
The mesh forms a flexible, honeycomb-like structure. It provides more open space compared to other weaves, allowing better airflow, good drainage, and unobstructed visibility.
The hexagonal pattern allows the mesh to bend and conform to curved surfaces. That makes it suitable for wrapping around tree guards, poultry coops, and other applications.
Hexagonal wire meshes are usually made of galvanized, stainless steel, or PVC-coated wires. It makes them corrosion-resistant to fight against harsh environments.
They are available in different wire gauges and opening sizes to cater to the practical demands of different projects. You may check our size chart of hexagonal wire mesh for a specific size reference.
We provide three types of hex netting wire meshes for different uses:
Yes. You can use wire cutters or tin snips to cut the netting. It’s highly suggested to wear gloves while cutting because the edges may be sharp. PVC-coated hexagonal wire mesh is safer to handle than the bare galvanized type.
Galvanized hexagonal wire netting: 5–15 years (depends on environment).
PVC-coated hexagonal wire netting: 10–20 years (UV-resistant).
Stainless steel hexagonal wire netting: 20+ years.
